Staff Appreciation Week is the week of May 2nd. Your PTO has many fun surprises planned for the staff (Mustache Pretzel food truck!), but we also need some additional help from you and your kids to make it truly spectacular.
- Hats Off to Our Teachers: We will be sending home a coloring page with a hat and the words, “Hats off to My Teacher”. We’d love to have each student, in their own words, write on the paper why he or she loves his or her teacher. Encourage your child to color or decorate the hat as much as he/she would like. Be sure that the letter/drawing is labeled with your child’s name, and the teacher’s name (the back is a great location). We want to ensure that it gets to the right teacher! Year after year, the teachers tell us that the personal notes and wishes from their students mean more to them than anything you can find in a store. Please have your child turn the hat in to their teacher the week of May 2nd.
- Hats for Staff: We are also asking students to fill out a hat flyer for those special people who are not their individual teachers at Sierra. Please have your child select another person (in addition to their teacher).
- Gift Card Gratitude: During Staff Appreciation Week, we will be giving away gift cards to our teachers and staff to express our gratitude to them for all that they do for our families each and every day. We have over 75 “Shining Sun” staff members. Our goal is for each staff member to receive a $25 gift card , and hopefully a few other goodies. As of right now, we only have enough gift cards for a half of the teachers/staff. Gift cards to anywhere for any amount are greatly appreciated! Got a gift card in your drawer that you know you’ll never use? We’re sure a staff member would love it, so please consider donating. Pressed for time? Send cash and we’ll use it to purchase a gift card. Please send them in to the front office in an envelope marked “PTO”.
- Cooking Up Some Thanks: We will be hosting various breakfasts and lunches for the staff during Staff Appreciation Week. In addition to the food from restaurants, we like to give the teachers and staff a more personal touch with dishes from our families. On Thursday, May 5th we’re treating the teachers to an “Who Feast” of soup and salad. We need donations of soups, salads, rolls, drinks and desserts. Sign up here.
