New Security Procedures – Sierra Asks Your Help

For the safety of all of our children, our school’s administration has implemented some changes to the visitor check-in and after school dismissal processes. As parents, we are happy to support measures that help keep our kids safe, and so we are spreading the word and asking everyone’s cooperation in this matter.

New Visitor Check-In Procedures (effective Monday, January 7, 2013)

  • All visitors will need to turn in a photo I.D. and be issued a visitor’s badge.
  • Visitors will not be allowed beyond the office doors without signing in, providing a photo ID, getting a visitor’s badge and being given permission to enter the school.
  • When leaving the school, visitors will return through the office, sign out and retrieve their photo I.D.

New Dismissal Procedures (effective Monday, January 14, 2013)

  • Bus Riders
  • Students in grades 1-3 will exit the school building through Door J, west of the office doors.
  • Students in grades 4-5 will exit the school building through Door K, east of the office doors.
  • Walkers (or pick up by parents on foot)
  • All students will exit through Door L, south of the 12th Street Ramada.
  • We ask that ALL parents on foot wait for their children near the hill, south of the Ramada.  The area in front of the ramada will be blocked off.  Parents will no longer be able to linger in this area so teachers are able to see students at all times.
  • Parent Pick up (in vehicles)
  • All students will exit through Door A (where they currently exit).
  • No parents will be allowed in the area in front of the ramada.  This will be strictly enforced.

There will be no changes in our Kindergarten dismissal.
Kinder parents will continue to pick up their children from the Kindergarten Patio.

Thank you for your help and support with this change.  If you have any questions or concerns surrounding this policy, please don’t hesitate to call the office.
